Casino de Montréal is one of the most unusual casino buildings in the country. It opened on October 9, 1993, inside two pavilions left over from Expo 67, on an island in the St. Lawrence with a view back to the Old Port. It’s run directly by Loto-Québec, and it’s often described as Canada’s largest gaming floor.
A lot of travel sites will tell you it’s open 24/7. It isn’t, and that’s not the only detail worth checking before you go.
Quick answer: Casino de Montréal is at 1 Avenue du Casino in Parc Jean-Drapeau and is run by Loto-Québec. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday to Thursday, and non-stop from 9 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. You must be 18 to enter. Parking is free but limited, and the 777 bus connects it to the metro.

Games and Poker
Loto-Québec doesn’t publish game counts on its visitor pages, and third-party figures disagree. Most put the slots at around 3,000, so we’ve used that as a rough number. You’ll find slots, progressive jackpots and table games spread across the connected buildings.
The Poker Room runs Texas Hold’em tournaments on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Check the current schedule before you go. If you’d like to learn more first, our look at casino tournaments in Canada explains how they work.
Restaurants and Shows
- Le Montréal: the sit-down restaurant, with a tasting offer at the time of our check.
- Pavillon 67: dinner buffet on Thursdays and Sundays.
- L’instant: a late-night spot known for its smoked meat poutine.
The Cabaret du Casino hosts live shows. The 18+ rule covers it too, along with the bars and restaurants, so this isn’t a place to bring teenagers for dinner.

The casino sits in Parc Jean-Drapeau, across from the Old Port.

Playing in Quebec Beyond the Casino
Quebec is different from the rest of Canada: Loto-Québec runs both the land-based casinos and the province’s online platform. Our look at Quebec’s online casino options compares it with offshore sites. To see how Montréal compares with other big casinos, read our Canadian casino comparison.
Need Help?
Quebec has its own support services for gambling problems. Our page on gambling help and self-exclusion lists them.
