Unibet closed its Ontario site on March 26, 2024 and no longer runs a Canadian site. Its Malta terms bar only Ontario residents, but it offers no Canadian product, so we list it as unavailable and suggest alternatives.
Unibet has no Canadian casino today. Its Ontario site closed on March 26, 2024, and its old Canadian address no longer loads. This page used to be a review. It is now a status page: what happened, what Unibet’s own terms say about the rest of Canada, what to do if you still had an account, and where to play instead.
Quick take: Unibet is not available in Ontario, and it does not run a site for any other province. Its international site licensed in Malta bars Ontario residents but, on paper, not the rest of Canada. Unibet doesn’t list Canada as one of its markets, though, and we can’t confirm Canadian payments, offers or support. We don’t recommend it, and the alternatives below are all confirmed for Canadian players.

What Happened in Ontario
Unibet was one of the first casinos in Ontario’s regulated market, launching on day one in April 2022. On November 29, 2023, its parent company, Kindred Group, announced that it would leave every North American market, including Ontario and several US states, by the middle of 2024. It said the region was too competitive to justify the cost and that it would focus on its core European markets.
Unibet’s Ontario site still carries the closure notice. It says that on.Unibet.ca has been permanently closed since March 26, 2024, and that customers can no longer access their accounts. Unibet does not appear in iGaming Ontario’s official directory of regulated sites, which we check directly. In October 2024, Kindred itself was taken over by FDJ, the French lottery operator, so Unibet now belongs to a group with no stated plans for Canada.
Our ranking of Ontario online casinos lists every casino registered in the province today, and explains what normally happens when an operator leaves.
What About the Rest of Canada?
This is the question our earlier version of this page could not answer. Some review sites say Unibet still welcomes Canadians outside Ontario under its Malta licence; others say it left Canada entirely. We have now checked Unibet’s own sites, and the answer is somewhere in between.
What Unibet’s Own Sites Say
- No Canadian site. Unibet’s global homepage asks you to choose your country and lists Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France and Monaco, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden and the UK. Canada is not on the list, and unibet.ca no longer loads.
- The Malta terms bar Ontario, not Canada. The international site at unibet.mt is run by Rol Malta Ltd under Malta Gaming Authority licence MGA/B2C/1031/2023. Its terms, version 4.9 updated on September 28, 2026, list the places whose residents cannot open an account. The list names “Ontario Canada”, but not the rest of Canada.
- Traces of Canadian accounts remain. The same terms still list a monthly inactivity fee of C$7 for accounts held in Canadian dollars, and warn that some games may be restricted for players in Canada.
Why We Still Don’t List It
On paper, a resident of British Columbia or Nova Scotia is not barred by Unibet’s Malta terms. In practice, Unibet doesn’t market to Canada, offers no Canadian site, and lists no Canadian payment methods or promotions that we could find. A site built for Maltese players, in euros, with unknown support for Interac and an operator that has publicly left North America, is not one we can review as a Canadian casino. If Unibet adds Canada back to its markets, we will review it again.
If you want to check for yourself, visit unibet.mt from your province and see whether registration lets you choose Canada as your country, then read the restricted countries list in its terms. Do not use a VPN to get around a block. That breaks the operator’s terms and can cost you your balance.

If You Still Have a Unibet Account
Ontario players were told to withdraw their balances before the closure, with remaining funds to be refunded. If you believe you are still owed money:
- Contact Unibet’s customer support through one of its live sites, giving your Ontario username, the email address on the account and the amount you think is owed.
- Keep copies of every message and any old account statements.
- If you get no answer, your account was held on a site regulated in Ontario, so you can raise it with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
Be wary of anyone who contacts you offering to recover old casino balances for a fee. Our guide to resolving disputes with online casinos explains the official routes.
Where to Play Instead
Unibet’s appeal was a big European brand with casino and sportsbook on one account. These casinos offer something similar and are confirmed for Canadian players:
| If you liked Unibet for | Consider | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Casino and sportsbook on one account | Betway | A long-established combined operator, registered in Ontario and available across Canada |
| A big-brand regulated casino | BetMGM | Licensed in Ontario and Alberta, with a very large library and PayPal support |
| Mobile play and live casino | LeoVegas | Another European brand, registered in Ontario, with the best mobile casino we review |
| Fair bonus terms | PlayOJO | No wagering requirements, available in Ontario and the rest of Canada |
| European sports-led brands | bwin or BetVictor | Both registered in Ontario with casino and sports together |

Why This Isn’t a Normal Review
We could have kept the old review, with its bonus figures and game counts. Plenty of sites have. But a review that sends you to a casino with no Canadian site, quoting offers that are not available here, is worse than no review. When Unibet’s position changes, we will update this page. Our review methodology explains how we handle changes like this.
