Online Craps Canada 2026: Real Money Games, Best Bets and Odds

Craps looks like the most intimidating game in the casino. The table is covered in boxes, the bets have names like Yo and Horn, and in a land-based casino the whole thing moves fast and loud. Online, almost all of that noise falls away. You can learn the game in a demo, at your own pace, and you will find that the bets worth making fit in a single short paragraph. Better still, those bets are among the best value anywhere in a casino.

This page covers real money craps at online casinos in Canada: the computer-run RNG versions and the live dealer tables streamed from studios. It explains how a round works, which bets to make, which to skip and what each one really costs.

Quick answer: Bet the Pass Line (house edge 1.41%) or Don’t Pass (1.36%), then add the Odds bet once a point is set. The Odds bet has no house edge at all, so the more of your money sits on it, the lower your overall cost. Place bets on 6 and 8 (1.52%) are the only other bet we would call reasonable. Skip the proposition bets in the middle of the table, which cost 9% to 17%.

About this list. These are our general picks for players outside Ontario and Alberta, ranked by our overall review score. Craps is far less common online than blackjack or roulette, and not every casino on this list carries it. Among them, we have confirmed craps at Spinz. Search the casino’s lobby for “craps” before you deposit. If you live in Ontario or Alberta, play at a provincially licensed site instead (see the section on provincial sites further down).

How Online Craps Works

Every round is about two dice. The first roll of a round is the come-out roll, and what happens next depends on its total.

  • 7 or 11 on the come-out: Pass Line bets win immediately. This happens on 8 of the 36 possible dice combinations, about 22% of come-out rolls.
  • 2, 3 or 12 on the come-out (“craps”): Pass Line bets lose. That is 4 combinations in 36, about 11%.
  • 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10: that number becomes the point. The shooter keeps rolling. If the point comes up again before a 7, Pass wins. If a 7 comes first (a “seven-out”), Pass loses and a new round starts.

That is the whole game. Everything else on the table is an optional extra bet on what the dice will do. Online, the software handles the shooter, so you only choose bets and press roll, or wait for the next roll at a live table.

Because some totals can be made in more ways than others, the odds of each number are fixed. This short table is the key to every craps payout:

Total Ways to roll it (of 36) Chance per roll True odds against
2 or 12 1 each 2.8% 35 to 1
3 or 11 2 each 5.6% 17 to 1
4 or 10 3 each 8.3% 11 to 1
5 or 9 4 each 11.1% 8 to 1
6 or 8 5 each 13.9% 6.2 to 1
7 6 16.7% 5 to 1

The 7 is the most common roll, which is why it ends rounds and why so many bets lose to it.

The Bets Worth Making

Strip the table down and only a few bets carry a low house edge. All of them are line bets or follow from them.

Pass Line and Come

The standard bet. You win on a natural, lose on craps, and then need the point to repeat before a 7. The house edge is 1.41%, and a Pass Line bet wins 49.3% of the time. A Come bet works exactly the same way but starts on any roll after the point is set, so you can have several numbers working at once.

Don’t Pass and Don’t Come

The opposite bet: you win on 2 or 3, lose on 7 or 11, and then want a 7 before the point. A 12 on the come-out is a push (it is “barred”), which is how the house keeps its edge. At 1.36%, Don’t Pass is very slightly cheaper than Pass. In a land casino, betting against the shooter is considered bad manners. Online, nobody minds.

The Odds Bet: the Only Fair Bet in the Casino

Once a point is set, you can back your Pass or Come bet with an extra Odds bet. It pays at the true odds of the point repeating, so the casino has no edge on it at all:

Point Odds bet pays Example: C$20 Odds bet wins
4 or 10 2:1 C$40
5 or 9 3:2 C$30
6 or 8 6:5 C$24

Don’t players can “lay” odds the other way, risking more to win less, also at true odds. The Odds bet does not make you money on its own. What it does is dilute the house edge on your total stake. A C$10 Pass bet carries the 1.41% edge. Add C$20 in odds and you have C$30 at risk, but the edge applies only to the first C$10.

Odds allowed Combined house edge, Pass plus Odds Combined house edge, Don’t Pass plus laid Odds
No odds 1.41% 1.36%
1x 0.85% 0.68%
2x 0.61% 0.46%
3x, 4x, 5x 0.37% 0.27%

How much odds you can take depends on the game. Some online craps games allow generous multiples, some allow only a little, and a few leave the bet out entirely. Check the rules screen. A craps game with no Odds bet is missing the best part of craps.

Place 6 and Place 8

A Place bet wins if its number rolls before a 7, and you can make it at any time. Place 6 and 8 pay 7:6 for a house edge of 1.52%, close to the Pass Line. Bet in multiples of C$6 so the payout comes out even. Place bets on other numbers are a lot worse, as the next table shows.

Every Craps Bet and Its House Edge

Here is the full menu, sorted from cheapest to most expensive. Figures are the standard published values, rounded.

Bet Usual payout House edge
Odds (behind Pass, Come, Don’t Pass or Don’t Come) True odds 0%
Don’t Pass / Don’t Come 1:1 1.36%
Pass Line / Come 1:1 1.41%
Place 6 or 8 7:6 1.52%
Buy 4 or 10 (commission on wins only) 2:1 less 5% 1.67%
Field (12 or 2 pays 3:1) 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 2.78%
Place 5 or 9 7:5 4.00%
Buy 4 or 10 (commission paid up front) 2:1 less 5% 4.76%
Field (2 and 12 both pay 2:1) 1:1 or 2:1 5.56%
Place 4 or 10 9:5 6.67%
Big 6 / Big 8 1:1 9.09%
Hard 6 / Hard 8 9:1 9.09%
Hard 4 / Hard 10 7:1 11.11%
Any Craps (2, 3 or 12) 7:1 11.11%
Yo (11) or Three 15:1 11.11%
Horn (2, 3, 11, 12 split four ways) Varies About 12.5%
2 or 12 30:1 13.89%
Any 7 4:1 16.67%

Two things stand out. First, Big 6 and Big 8 are the same bet as Place 6 and 8 paid at even money instead of 7:6, which multiplies the edge by six. There is no reason to make them. Second, the proposition bets in the middle of the table look generous at 15:1 or 30:1, but every one of them pays well short of the true odds. Any 7 costs about twelve times as much as the Pass Line.

Online Craps Variants

RNG Craps

The standard computer version, with the full table layout and a roll button. It is the best way to learn, because most have a free demo and you can take as long as you like over each bet. Rules on odds multiples and Field payouts differ between providers, so read the help screen.

Live Dealer Craps

A real dealer rolls real dice in a studio, and you bet through an overlay during a timed window. Evolution’s Craps Live is the best-known version and appears in Ontario at BetRivers Casino, whose lobby includes it alongside Dragon Tiger. Our Caesars Ontario review also counts craps among its 100-plus live tables. Our hub for live dealer casinos in Canada compares the main studios.

First Person Craps

An RNG game dressed up with live-casino style graphics. The results come from software, not a dealer, so it plays at your pace like any RNG game.

Crapless Craps

There is no losing craps roll on the come-out: 2, 3, 11 and 12 all become points. It sounds kinder, but you also lose the instant win on 11, and the points 2, 3, 11 and 12 are hard to make. The Pass Line edge rises to about 5.4%, nearly four times the standard game.

High Point Craps

A simplified two-roll game. A first roll of 2 or 3 is ignored and rolled again, 11 or 12 wins outright, and any other total becomes a point that the next roll has to beat. The edge is about 2.35%, worse than a standard Pass Line bet, before you even add odds.

RNG Craps vs Live Craps

RNG craps Live dealer craps
Pace One roll per click, as fast as you want Set by the betting timer on each roll
Free play Demo mode is common No
Availability A minority of casinos, often one title Fewer still, mostly larger regulated sites
Bonus wagering Often reduced or 0% Usually excluded
Best for Learning the bets, small stakes Atmosphere and real dice

A Pass Line decision takes about 3.4 rolls on average, so craps is a slower game than it looks, even online. The danger at RNG speed is not the line bets but the side action: rapid one-roll proposition bets at 11% to 17% will drain a balance far faster than the line bets ever could.

A Simple Craps Strategy That Holds Up

No strategy beats the house edge in craps, and there are no decisions to make once a bet is down. What you control is which bets you make. A sensible plan for a real money session:

  1. Bet the Pass Line or Don’t Pass at your base stake.
  2. When a point is set, take as much odds as you can comfortably afford. Odds money is the cheapest money on the table.
  3. If you want more action, add one or two Come bets with odds, or Place 6 and 8, rather than raising your line bet.
  4. Ignore everything in the centre of the table.

Popular systems such as the Iron Cross, which combines a Field bet with Place bets on 5, 6 and 8, win on most rolls. Each part still carries its own edge, including 5.56% on a standard Field bet, so the system costs more over time than plain line bets with odds. For wider principles on bankroll and session limits, see our breakdown of strategies that genuinely help at casino games.

Craps and Casino Bonuses

Bonus terms are rarely kind to craps. Its low-edge bets, and the option to bet Pass and Don’t Pass together, are exactly what casinos try to keep away from wagering requirements. Expect one of these:

  • Craps counted at 0%. Common at offshore casinos, often by listing all table games as excluded.
  • Reduced weighting. Where it counts, 10% or less is typical. On a C$100 bonus at 35x, that is C$35,000 of craps bets to clear it. Spinz is an exception, counting table games at 50%.
  • Hedging banned. Betting both Pass and Don’t Pass, or other bets that cancel each other out, can void a bonus.

For a craps player, a large match offer is usually more trouble than it is worth. Cash play, or a bonus with no wagering attached, works better. Our list of casino bonuses with no wagering requirements shows which casinos pay rewards as cash, and our explainer on how casino welcome offers work covers the weighting maths.

Craps at Ontario and Alberta Licensed Sites

Ontario has some of the best craps options in Canada, because the large regulated operators carry both RNG and live versions. 888 Casino includes craps among more than 50 RNG table variants, and BetRivers and Caesars both run live craps. All three must be registered with the AGCO, and our list of iGaming Ontario casinos covers the rest of that market.

In Alberta, the regulated market opened on July 13, 2026, and our page on AGLC-regulated Alberta casinos tracks the brands that are live. Elsewhere in Canada, the provincial lottery site and offshore casinos are the options. Among offshore casinos we have reviewed, Mega Casino and Dream Vegas list craps among their table games, while our Barz review notes it is missing there. Our explainer on provincially run and offshore casinos covers the trade-offs in player protection.

What to Look For in an Online Craps Casino

  • The Odds bet. Check that the game offers it, and how big a multiple. This matters more than anything else on the table.
  • Field and Buy rules. A Field that pays 3:1 on 12 halves the Field edge, and a Buy bet that takes commission only on wins is far cheaper than one that charges up front.
  • A demo version. Free play is the easiest way to learn where the bets go.
  • A licence and audited software. RNG dice need independent testing like any other game. Our explainer on whether casino games are rigged shows how to check.
  • Fast withdrawals. Low-edge bets mean winning sessions are realistic. Our ranking of quick-payout casinos in Canada compares processing times.

How Craps Compares With Other Casino Games

Played with line bets and full odds, craps is one of the cheapest games available. The Pass Line alone, at 98.59% RTP, sits just behind the Banker bet in online baccarat (98.94%) and more than a full point ahead of European roulette, covered in our look at real money online roulette. Add full odds and craps moves ahead of both. Blackjack and video poker with a good pay table can go higher, but only with correct strategy, which our page on
