If you have played a live dealer game at an online casino, the odds are good it was made by Evolution. The company streams blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker and game shows from studios around the world, and it powers the live lobby at most of the casinos we review. Its game shows, Crazy Time above all, turned live casino from a niche into one of the busiest parts of the industry.
Evolution is also much more than a live casino now. Through a run of acquisitions it owns NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming and Nolimit City, so many of the slots you play come from the same group. This page explains what Evolution makes, what its games really return, and which Canadian casinos carry it.
Quick answer: Evolution is the world’s leading live casino provider, founded in 2006. Its tables include Infinite Blackjack, Lightning Roulette and Speed Baccarat, and its game shows include Crazy Time, Monopoly Live and Dream Catcher. Live blackjack returns over 99% with basic strategy, while game shows sit around 94% to 96.5%. Most major Canadian casinos run Evolution, but not all, so check the live lobby before you deposit.
Evolution Casinos for Canadian Players
About this list. These are our general picks for players outside Ontario and Alberta, ranked by our overall review score. Most run Evolution live tables, but lobbies change and some casinos use other live studios, so check before you deposit. If you live in Ontario or Alberta, play at a provincially licensed site instead (see the section on provincial sites further down).
Who Is Evolution?
Evolution was founded in 2006 as a live casino specialist and is listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange. For most of its history it did one thing: stream real dealers to online casinos, at scale and around the clock. Then it started buying:
| Year | Acquisition | What it added |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | Ezugi | A second live casino brand |
| 2020 | NetEnt and Red Tiger | Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest, Mega Fortune and Red Tiger’s daily jackpots |
| 2021 | Big Time Gaming | The Megaways mechanic and Bonanza |
| 2022 | Nolimit City | Extreme-volatility slots such as Mental |
Our profile of NetEnt’s slots and jackpots covers the biggest of those brands, and our overview of casino software providers shows how the group fits into the wider market.
Evolution’s Live Games and What They Return
The returns below are the figures used across our live casino pages. They assume correct strategy where strategy applies.
| Category | Key Evolution games | Typical return |
|---|---|---|
| Blackjack | Infinite Blackjack, Lightning Blackjack, Speed Blackjack, Salon Privé | Over 99% with basic strategy on standard tables |
| Roulette | European, Lightning, Immersive, XXXtreme Lightning, Auto Roulette | 97.30% on European rules |
| Baccarat | Speed, Squeeze, No Commission, Lightning Baccarat | 98.94% on Banker in standard games |
| Poker | Casino Hold’em, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Three Card Poker, Caribbean Stud | About 97.8% to 98% for the best of them with correct play |
| Dice | Craps Live, Lightning Dice, Sic Bo | 98.59% on the craps Pass Line |
| Game shows | Crazy Time, Monopoly Live, Dream Catcher, Funky Time, Deal or No Deal | About 94% to 96.5%, depending on the game and bet |
Blackjack
Evolution’s Infinite Blackjack lets unlimited players share one hand, so there is always a seat, often from about C$1. Lightning Blackjack adds random multipliers paid for by a fee, and Salon Privé tables serve high rollers. Our comparison of live blackjack tables in Canada covers the rule differences.
Roulette
Lightning Roulette is the world’s most popular live roulette game. It pays 29:1 on ordinary straight-up wins to fund random 50x to 500x multipliers, as our breakdown of Lightning Roulette odds explains. Evolution also runs standard European and French wheels, which are better value for even-money bets.
Baccarat
Speed Baccarat deals a hand roughly every half minute, and Squeeze adds the slow card reveal. No Commission versions change the payout on a Banker 6, which makes Player the better bet, as our page on live baccarat variants shows.
Game Shows
Evolution invented most of the format. Crazy Time offers four bonus games and multipliers up to 20,000x from C$0.10 a spot. Monopoly Live adds a 3D board bonus, and Dream Catcher is the simplest place to start. Our comparison of live casino game shows sets out each one’s return by bet.
Poker and Dice
Casino Hold’em and Ultimate Texas Hold’em are the best-value live poker games, covered in our page on live dealer poker games. Evolution is also one of the few studios streaming live craps.
First Person and RNG Games
Not everything Evolution makes is live. Its First Person range, including First Person Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat and Craps, uses the look of a live studio but runs on a random number generator, so it plays at your own pace and usually has lower minimums. These games are useful for learning a format before you join a live table, and many have a free demo, which live tables do not. Our page on online craps in Canada covers First Person Craps as an example.
Choosing the Right Evolution Table
- Check the rules panel. Blackjack tables differ in payouts and side bets, and baccarat tables in commission rules. Thirty seconds there can halve your cost.
- Prefer standard tables over Lightning versions for value. Lightning games pay for their multipliers with fees or reduced payouts. They are fun, but they are not the cheapest way to play.
- Watch the pace. Speed tables deal far more hands an hour, and the house edge applies to every one. A slower table at the same stake costs less per hour.
- Use the table limits. Each table shows its minimum and maximum. Pick one where your normal bet sits near the bottom, so a run of losses does not force you out.
- Give game shows a separate budget. Their returns are several points below the table games.
Why Evolution Leads the Live Casino Market
- Scale. Thousands of tables in many languages and limits, running around the clock. You rarely wait for a seat.
- Range of stakes. From C$0.10 game show spots and C$1 Infinite Blackjack hands up to high-limit salons, all from one supplier.
- Innovation. Most of the live formats competitors now copy, from lightning multipliers to game shows, started at Evolution.
- Branded and exclusive tables. Casinos can order their own branded tables. Our BetVictor review found Ontario-exclusive tables, for example.
The main criticism is the flip side of that dominance: game show returns are lower than table games, and the most popular titles are built around volatility. Choosing the table game over the show is the simplest way to keep costs down.
Which Canadian Casinos Run Evolution?
Most of the casinos we review use Evolution for some or all of their live casino, including Spin Casino, Royal Vegas, CasiYou with 70-plus tables, and QuickWin with more than 100. Many pair it with Pragmatic Play Live for extra capacity, as Betway does with well over 100 tables.
Not every casino has it, and the gaps matter if live play is your priority:
- Dream Vegas has no Evolution tables, so none of its game shows or Lightning games.
- MyEmpire runs around 250 tables from smaller live studios instead.
- Lucky Days runs its live casino entirely on Pragmatic Play Live, whose own range our profile of Pragmatic Play’s slots and live games covers.
Evolution at Ontario and Alberta Licensed Casinos
Evolution supplies most of Ontario’s regulated live casinos. Our LeoVegas review found roughly 40 live blackjack tables across Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live, BetRivers runs about 30 Evolution tables including Craps Live and Dragon Tiger, and Caesars counts more than 100 live tables from Evolution and Playtech. Our list of regulated Ontario casinos covers the rest. Alberta’s market opened on July 13, 2026, and our page on AGLC-licensed Alberta casinos tracks the launches.
Evolution Games and Casino Bonuses
Live games are where bonus terms bite hardest. Many casinos count live tables at 0% toward wagering or block them while a bonus is active. Among our reviewed casinos, BetPlays counts game shows and roulette at 20% and live blackjack, baccarat and poker at 10%, which is generous by industry standards. For live players, cash play or a cashback offer with light wagering usually works better than a match bonus.
Is Evolution Fair?
Yes. Evolution is licensed in many regulated markets, including Ontario, and its live games use physical cards, wheels and dice filmed in real time. Where software is involved, such as lightning multipliers and game show bonuses, it uses certified random number generators. As always, the casino you play at must be properly licensed too, and our explainer on how casino fairness is tested explains what to check.
How We Assess Evolution Casinos
We check which Evolution games a casino runs, how many tables and at what limits, whether a second live studio adds capacity, how bonus terms treat live play and how quickly withdrawals are paid. Our full criteria are in our casino review process, and our hub for the best live dealer casinos in Canada compares live lobbies across brands.
Keep Live Play in Proportion
Live games feel social and sessions can run long without you noticing. Set a time limit as well as a budget, and walk away when you reach either. Our page on gambling support in Canada lists provincial helplines and self-exclusion programs.
